Complete nonsense. Hitler lessened restrictions on firearm ownership (except for Jews). The 1938 German Weapons Act:

1) Decreased ownership age from 20 to 18
2) Replaced one year permits with three year permits
3) Allowed hunters and government workers to own weapons without a permit
4) Completeld deregulated ownership of rifles and shotguns

The alleged links between German and US firearms legislation are laughably tenuous at best. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Hey kid, I knew about Hitler before there WAS an internet. Back in the good old days, people actually learned about things and understood the world around them. They didnt let millions of strangers on a flat TV tell them how to think.

Every nation that wanted to control its people or practice genocide or just plain racism ALWAYS started with disarming them, and always under the pretense that the government could protect them better. That has been true since before you were born, and long before there was literacy. For a long time there was no such thing as reading and blind belief. You either understood how things worked or you died, often at the hands of people you thought you could trust.

You should move to a country more suited to your anti-gun views.

STOP Dave! I have had this long held mental picture of you and this is not what I expected. You cannot post anything like this ever again. You are messing with my head! :D

Shooting guns is fun. Would you say the same about people practicing archery or sword fighting? These things are meant to inflict suffering as well, but also make great hobbies.

Really? I never knew bows were that expensive...never really looked and figured they could get way pricey but thought there would be some decent ones pretty cheap at least...might have to start looking

I'm not even sure what you're arguing here. Some guy claimed that Hitler was the "father of modern gun control" and that US federal law is based on German law. That's complete bullshit.

There are tons of legitimate arguments to prove that gun control laws are terrible. "Hitler invented gun control!!!" makes all of us who oppose gun control look foolish.

Hitler invented the bug, thats bad enough.

Today I'm in a crowded store and fully armed. So many lives at risk...

I mean who needs to be armed while buying underwear?

He took the guns away from the people he wanted to repress/slaughter so they had no recourse against him...just like other governments that are scared of their own subjects, err, citizens.

Shooting guns is fun. I've probably expended 10,000 rounds since buying my first gun, and nothing has died by my bullets.

I've taken at least a dozen friends to the firing range as first-timers. I can tell you that not a single one of them didn't have fun. All of them wanted to do it again.

Oh, and they were all chicks.

Also, more people (in the U.S.) own guns than you realize. Just about no one (except those I've taken to the range) knows that I'm armed to the teeth.

Going to the range for the first time and using a gun definitely changed my perspective about guns and the people who own guns. It's odd but going to the shooting range is comparable to going to the (golf) driving range or batting cages in my mind now. Just a way to practice a skill that may have other applications for you. For some it's just the practice that's worthwhile as it a fun way to blow off some steam and relax.

With guns there's definitely a gear factor, it's a mechanical device. People are super knowledgeable about them like people are with computers, camera equipment, music, etc. I just see it as a natural extension to any hobby that has gear in it.

I think having fired a gun, they simultaneously became even more frightening and less scary at the same time as odd as that is. They became more scary in that I could truly appreciate the power guns had. But at the same time using one made it more real and seeing what a gun can/can't do helped make it less scary too.

If I got into guns, it would be vintage all the way. I wouldn't own anything made after 1945.

You realize that many of the NEW firearms sold today are based on firing mechanisms dating back to as early as 1900?

Buy a single action 45 and you'll find most use the same action and design as the original colt. Buy a EAA 9mm? Yup... old school CZ-75 action.

Not much has changed in the standard calibers... you can indeed find newer more modern stuff... and they are just as fun, just as mechanically interesting.

And women, as we of OT know, are equally dangerous! They're always going off, and there's no safety device! D:

That is one screwed up off the wall Facebook page...

I didn't get the graphic off Facebook. I avoid Facebook like the plague. However, you got me curious and I took a look. Very, uh, partisan, yes.

However, this vid was listed near the top: Kidnapped for Christ.

It's a 2 minute trailer for a longer documentary, and well worth the 2 minute time investment, imho.

It's about a Christian re-education camp in the Dominican Republic that fundie parents in the US send their kids to against their will . . . so they'll learn to LOVE Jeebus more . . . or else! D:

One of the "Christian" counselors explained their methods:

A way to show them the amount of pain they're putting on everybody else is to put a little pain on them.
Maybe if those kids had guns to defend themselves?

I avoid it myself but the name of the page was so weird I had to see what it was...
And yeah that is some seriously twisted shit...sad what some will do in the name of religion, twisted sadistic freaks...equally sad that some people think that's the norm too but that's something else

Yes and evn then that wont be enough rounds. While you're there you might as well buy more ammo.
