I need help. My anatomy teacher was having us do a lab and he said Dense Fiberous connective tissue can be confused with smooth muscle tissue. I looked in teh scope so many times and I still fail to see why you can confuse them. I would normally let this go, but I am being tested on it and i have to know why they can be confused. Please help.

If it's an H&E stain, both would look pink. And since dense connective tissue is mostly collagen fibers, they may look like smooth muscle fibers. I forget if smooth muscle fibers actually have nuclei associated with them. Look that up to check if you can make that distinction.
