Wooden cutting board that is now separating at the glue joints.

Wow - must be a cheap cutting board. My parents is wood, and it's survived many a trips into the washing mashine.

I've heard of gun enthusiast's putting old rifle stocks in the dishwasher to take minor dings out.

That's all I have to offer on this subject. I really would like to elaborate on my meager offering, or even give an enlightening take on your cutting board's predicament. But alas, I'm drawing a blank.

Thank you.

Nothing wrong with dishwashing wood.

Your thread title should read "Manufacturers who don't make their wooden products dishwasher safe are idiots".

It takes 15 seconds to lather some soap on the scrubby-sponge and scrub down the cutting board.

So to answer your question, yes.

Ditto.

I put wood in the dishwasher all the time (my whole life as my parents made me do it as a small child). Wood spoons for stirring pots. Wood cutting boards. Wood handled knives. Etc. Never once have I had a single problem.

My advice: Stop buying crappy stuff.

? My wooden cutting board has gone in the dishwasher many times without worry. Then again, I always set the dishwasher at 'no heat dry' to save energy.
