I get so sick of hearing (not just on AT) the ridiculous hatred towards things when they've never even experienced it in the first place. This can include all sorts of things from food to tech products.

I have friends who tell me they hate sushi, but they've never had it. Who knows, you might actually like some of it if you tried it. You can't write shit off without experiencing it firsthand.

It's just like you fuckers who just hate on certain phones and consoles when you haven't even tried them.

It may be a small thing, but it's fucking annoying.

Who knows, you may love it. Actually I'm pretty sure YOU would ;)

Depends on if you use teeth or not. Get to work, junior.

I don't claim to hate heroin despite not trying it. I'm afraid I'd like it, which is precisely why I wouldn't try it. Same goes for cocaine or just about any other dangerous drug.

Oh yeah, and I have a friend who is like that. He will actually try stuff, but it takes a lot of encouragement and he's usually got such a negative mindset by then that he's bound to dislike whatever it is.

I agree with the OP, it really pisses me off. There are a ton of users on this board who think it's necessary to interject into every thread about alcohol that they've never touched a drop and many of them leave snarky comments about how stupid drinkers are. Same thing with weed threads.

I don't think heroin or anal sex are relevant examples. Heroin is extraordinarily bad for you and is likely to lead to adiction in short order (same with tobacco, no problems with people who knock that without trying it). You don't need experience with anal sex to know it's going to hurt like hell and if the idea isn't sexually appealing to you then there's no point in trying it - that would be like criticizing someone for thinking losing a finger is bad without having chopped their own finger off.

But as for relatively harmless things (a night on the piss, a joint), if you don't want to try it then that's fine. But don't act all high and mighty and tell everyone else how terrible it is because that's bullshit. I also get annoyed with people (ATOT users are really bad at this) who knock things like Twitter and Facebook without ever having used them. I don't care if you don't like the services, but knocking them relentlessly without ever having tried them is such a douche move.

<-- not a pot smoker or Twitter user, but have used both.

What's the difference between someone jumping into a "i've been sober for 2 years" thread and posting "Alcohol sucks, noone should drink it" and someone posting a "help, my pc wont boot" thread and posting "you use windows xp, what do you expect... this never happens on my linux box"

The elitist attitude will happen no matter what.

Well yeah, they both suck, but how is that relevant? That's not what this thread is about  Unless you mean the Linux guy has never used XP, in which case he fits into that same dickscarf category.
