For what? I have avatars and sigs turned off already but that doesn't detract from the fact that they are pointless and only serve to slow forums down and make them look cluttered.

You not liking avatars/sigs is one thing. I can understand that.

Saying they are "pointless" - well, that's just wrong. I can remember users and their posts and personalities more easily because of their avatars and signatures. They also tend to give an idea of the background of a person, or what they like or associate with.

I don't think avatars and sigs are necessary, but they do add value for many people. And its easy enough for people who don't like them to turn them off. Having the option is better than before on Fusetalk where avatars were mandatory and there was a limited choice.

I have a 20Meg down/5Meg up connection... the forums are not slow for me.

I have a 24" Widescreen Monitor at 1920x1080 resolution... the forums are not cluttered for me.

I have a 50mb connection and a 24" monitor at 1920x1200 resolution. That isn't the issue.

Turn off avatars and sigs and the forum is instantly faster and has less 'noise', much like when you block ads with browser extensions.

Agreed... well about the avatars anyway. I usually remember Avatars before names, especially now that most of ours are unique. Sigs can be helpful with links to heat, AIM names, PSN/Live usernames, etc... but they're so cluttered with huge quotes and (the worst) an entire list of what's in your computer that they're just annoying now.
