My buddy and I just talked about this at work. We'd like to come up with a list of people that became famous again simply because of the internet humor that spreads like teh herp at a public orgy in Chile.

So far we have:

1. Chuck Norris
2. Rick Astley

Ok the list is small, can you think of any others?

Paris Hilton. Seriously before the sex tape how many people really knew who she was.

I don't know. I might need to have a more broad of an outlook on this list I guess. I'm trying to imagine people that have one specific event tied directly to the internet. Hasselhoff might be good, but I think Paris' video was popular enough off the internet.

You specified famous again, so I figured they had to have been famous and waned into obscurity.

Tom Cruise? Maybe he never lost popularity, but i would say the internet significantly boosted it.

Where's the "again" part?

Same with the Paris vid man. It wasn't really an internet item that made them popular. It was just ripped and we all downloaded it :)

Maybe I should drop this to just People that became famous bc of intertubes. At least that way I can add stuff like Star Wars Boy.

Speaking of intertubes, how about Alaska Senator Ted Stevens who popularized the concept of the Internet being a 'series of tubes'?
