So apparently the neighbors called the police because I was parked on the sidewalk in front of their house. On my road EVERY SINGLE CAR is about 12" onto the sidewalk because the road is a little on the narrow side.

Luckily I heard the tow truck and the driver was kind enough to not take the car once I got there, but they still slapped a $100 ticket on there. I used to park legally, but since nobody else does my car got sideswiped. So damned if I do, damned if I don't.

Cliffs:
Apparently in pittsburgh you either park so you car gets hit by shitty drivers, or they slap you with exorbitant parking tickets.

That's BS. I lived in a narrow street and have had to do the same thing, if I didn't the garbage truck couldn't make it through. Inevitably once every few weeks someone would park legally, block the truck, and he'd sit there honking his horn until they came outside and moved the car.

Did they ticket the other cars while they were there too?

Nah, I was asking the cop on what the protocol was. He said they only show up and ticket if they get a call...

Anyways someone else pulled up and parked in the exact same spot after I left. Once my lease is up I'm getting a place with off-street parking.

If you don't like the way I drive, stay the fuck off the sidewalk!

I'll pull my .45 mag from my waisteband and put you in the ground if you park on the sidewalk in front of my house.

BTW, did you know that kids don't play in my front yard ever since I put a few rounds at their feet? Yeh, it's true because I'm an ATOT bad guy.

And i'll pick you off with an A70 from a mile and a half away before you ever get that far.

Now what, son?

Seriously, don't park on the fucking sidewalk, at least not if you don't want me to use a beam as wide as the sidewalk and walk back and forth with it scraping your car while having the legal right to do that.

IOW, you do get that your insurance for damage on the side that is ON the sidewalk won't do shit since it's illegal while if you DID get hit on the other side facing the road, your insurance would not only cover that but the state would cover your insurance costs for a driver that didn't stop or tell?

Amateurs.

Lived in Pittsburgh for 4 years with a big old boat of a Lincoln and never had a single problem with street parking. Hell, didn't even have a problem with the snow plows.

Not in the US you don't. I know you're in the UK, so things may well be different there, but in the US you most certainly do not have the right to damage someone's property in the manner you describe.

No, the state does not cover the cost for drivers who don't stop. You have to buy uninsured/underinsured coverage from your insurance provider. Again, things may be different in the UK, but in the US if you don't carry uninsured/underinsured coverage on your car, you can't get your deductible back in the case of a hit and run. And if you only carry liability, you can't recover anything at all.

Basically, your legal analysis is wildly off-base.

That is awesome, let's hope someone scrapes the side of it because you can't fucking park right.

Or a sidewalk sweeper truck, i'd fucking gun that and move the cars by forcing them out of the way.

If it was outside my house it would be gone forever.

I forgot that you don't have any rights in the US...

In the UK, if you park your car illegaly, anything and everything that happens to it because of it is your problem, learn to fucking park correctly and you won't have that problem.

In the UK your insurance will cover anything except liability, the state will pay for those with only liability if it is deemed that you have been hit and run, those money come from the damages to the state for hit and run accidents.

In short, if you did nothing wrong in the UK, you don't have to pay a cent, if you parked illegally on the sidewalk and someone was moving something the size of the sidewalk then no insurance would ever cover it.

But then again, we have this shit about right of way and laws in the UK, perhaps you don't get that over there and that is why you are parking on the sidewalks?

My car actually got hit by another uninsured motorist a few months ago. From what I gathered from the insurance companies most Un/Underinsured plans only cover medical costs and not property.

You don't deserve a response troll... even this is too much.

JoS, when you were an officer in the SAS serving in Afghanistan with your covert special ops team assigned to parking duties, did you ever waste one of your own guys for parking illegally?

I'd let him live as long as he uses turn signals.
