people piss me off

was walking down the street today and a car drove by with one of those car flags, but they had changed it so the flag was flying upside down. People suck sometimes. Whats the point of doing that at these times. I didnt mind it when people like Rage Against the Machine did it in peaceful times 5 years ago, but now its seems like its just saying "f*ck you" to the 6000 some people who lost their lives.

lucky for them he was driving and i was walking...i best not see that car parked anywhere

I posted about this, sort of, upside down flag means "distress". Except, we are not really in distress. It's not a protest / anti-america thing though, so, you shouldn't get worked up about it unless you see them throw lighter fluid on it and light a match.

The case I saw, was in my neighborhood where somebody had an upside down flag on their wall. You can see it walking down the street at night because they don't have blinds. The other wall has a bob marley poster.

I guess folks might believe they are protesting by flying it upside down. In that case, you can get worked up, but, better to ask them first if they are protesting or just stupid. 😉

So discussion/criticism of the government is only appropriate in peacetime? I know Oliver Wendell Holmes agrees with you (a la his "clear and present danger" ruling), but I disagree. Sure govenment bashing may not be approprite, but the discussion of ideas which may lead to more equitiable solutions to the nation's problems should never be curtailed.
