why couldn't it have been ' handicapped people'?



Could you say 'how many persons are here'

instead of 'how many people are here'?
 
Persons, people. Use persons when you mean individuals with identities; use people when you mean a large and anonymous mass. (People can be pushed only so far. She was one of those persons who can cope with pressure.) link


 
i think theyre basically a synonym, but persons is more general? although i dont think you can get much more general.

meh. just plain synonyms.
