Right now I'm in St. Paul, MN using a hotel broadband connection with my laptop and decided to browse the network. Some yahoo has his c drive shared for anyone in the hotel to exploit. I just left a text file on the /all users/desktop telling him he may want to disable file sharing.

I'd post some pics of him and his wife in hawaii, but they're both old and ugly, so I won't. :p

he figured out how to share it, hopefully he can figure out how to turn it off. I was reading the ars article on warflying at the time and wondered if people were really that ignorant about basic security. I guess they are. Scary.

well, if you are one a home network behind a firewall sharing a c drive is OK is it not? maybe he had it in that configuration and forgot to change it before traveling.

ya, but he's on a laptop, not a desktop. he's the kind of user that i have to support at work... scary! Hopefully he'll get the message and be more careful in the future.
