I absolutely have to share this...

I was checking out the imdb reviews for "The Merchant of Venice", thinking that the subject of the original play wold definitely give way to controversy concerning the new film... but nothing prepared me to see this on top of the "Hated it" drop-down list.

Those of you registered can check it out...

for the rest of you, here it is:

"How is it a PG?, 22 April 2005

Author: joanne-97 from United Kingdom

I got this movie out under the expectation that because it was rated pg there would be no nudity, as I wanted to snuggle up with my husband. Sadly, I was let down by the rating system, as there were a few times where breasts were shown, and I don't particularly want to see naked women when I'm with my husband. I find it degrading and upsetting. We stopped watching it half-way, it ruined our evening, what a disappointment. How on earth did it pass as a PG? I would not want my children to see it. I don't want my little boy growing up thinking of women as sex objects, nor would I want my little girl believing that she is just a sex object, yet our rating system seems to completely ignore decent moral standards. "

Weird...and that woman is in the UK too, where they're supposed to be more open to nudity when compared to us crazy Americans...

She quit watching, he snuck downstairs later and watched all the tit shots in frame by frame.

LOL OMFG that is sooo wrong

But in other news, yeah I would agree that if it does have that, it should be PG-13. Giving PG when it contains some 1/2 nude shots doesn't seem right

If that's for real, I would feel sorry for her husband (though he was stupid enough to marry the bitch in the first place).

There are movies that had such things before there was a PG13 rating. I don't think anything was upgraded later once the new rating was released.

Guys, you are missing the point... do you know the subject of "The Merchant of Venice" ?

To put things into perspective, it's like someone complaining that James Earl Jones has blue eyes in "Conan the Barbarian"...
