People in business... Regarding email...

TridenT

So, I notice that I get very delayed or almost never get replies to things that are kinda urgent in businesses/government. So, do you just keep sending the email over and over on an hourly basis while the person is working or just once?

Because I've noticed, the just once method.. You don't get a reply usually. Send it over and over, maybe you will.

Thoughts?

I left a message, but I think unless you get the actual person... keep calling.

I'm waiting until 3PM then I am calling them again. I'm guessing I called them during lunch break.
I like pushing the zero button.

That's after the one for English.

FYI: Don't expect a government employee to give a rats ass about being punctual or efficient unless your stars are aligned perfectly.

Normal business etiquette is to respond to e-mail within 2 days. Voice mail same day or next day.

Keep in mind yours is likely one of hundreds they get any given day.

what kind of business are you doing?

I thought you didn't work?

The general rule is 24 hours for an eMail response.

If you need it right away, pick up the phone.

That depends on the person's position, but it should be 24 hours at the very most for *some* type of reply. It is mind blowing how many people I work with don't respond to e-mails in a timely manner (as in, often never).

ok new rule, people who leave voice messages instead of emails can go fuck themselves.

Even outside of work I hate it when people leave voice mail on my cell phone. Reading a text message takes 2 seconds. Calling my voice mail, entering a password, fucking around, listening to person breathe into the phone for 5 seconds before they start talking then listen to them take 20 seconds to leave a 3 second message... ARRRGGGG. Voice mail = EVILLLLLL
