How are the plastic mounting brackets for processors supposed to be joined to the motherboard? Screws, plastic thingys?

Thank you!

Dang. Mine didn't come with any. Do you know where I could get some? Or what to use as a substitute?

There also used to be little plastic C shaped things with screws coming out of the ends that were used to tie the retention bracket down. Post a WTB in the FS/T section. Someone has to have some laying around.

I don't think I ever used those retnetion thingys. The Slot 1 processors were pretty stable in the slot unless they had a GIANT heatsink hanging off them.

The slot As were a little less stable, but I still have a machine in use with a GIANT heatsink on it and no plastic retention brackets. I just re-seat the processor every time I 'm in that machine.

They were also different depending on what chip you were running: celeron or P2/P3.

I just ripped apart a Dell PowerEdge 2200 with a Pentium 2 266 that's a Slot 1... the retension crap might be proprietary, I dunno. If you want, PM me and I'll send you pictures tomorrow night.

Don't worry about. I just discovered an XP 1700+ comp in the corner and I might be sending this back.
