Looking to order some buffalo burgers.
What's the average going rate per lb for buffalo ?

Depends on what you get. Steak is around $12-15/lb. Burger meat is around $5/lb I think.

Well we put one in the deepfreeze twice a year and it is good eating, a little sweet for some people.
There is a place in Broken Bow Nebraska that sells it and will ship it, they are reasonable also I think about $3.00 a lb for hamburger. They have a web site that can probably be found with a search, I think it is Broken Arrow ranch, if you cannot find it PM me and I will look them up for you.

I found some from Buffalogals.com and they had a 10lb Buffalo Burger package for 3x.xx + about 17 shipping.

which isn't too shabby.

I might order that.

My dad & stepbrother went together on a full buffalo for about $400, IIRC. Couldn't tell you the price per pound, though.

A quarter, maybe. No way a full one. A quarter cow can run upwards of $300-$500 depending on the market and quality of the beef. A buffalo won't be any cheaper.

They said full buffalo, but they are pretty big exaggerators, so you're probably right. 😉

I was at the meat market this afternoon and saw buffalo chuck roast for 3.69/lbs. The ground meat was there too at just over $4/lbs. but I don't recall exactly what it was. I just remember thinking that I'd not tried it and it wasn't that much more expensive than beef..

actually, it just tasted like a really good hamburger. if no one told me it was buffalo meat, i wouldn't have known.
