People do weird things with their lenses

We had hiked up a mountain and when we got to the top I saw a guy take his $2k Canon 70-200 f2.8 lens and just wedge it into some rocks at an angle after he changed lenses. Sure it wouldn't roll away but there was no lens cap OR mount cap on it! And the mount was facing up.

I think I just stopped and stared at that for a few seconds when I saw it

And that wedging probably scarred the sides of the lens barrel. I had that same lens.

yesterday, some photog set his SLR down on a pedestrian bridge while he and his model were taking phone pics, forcing people to step over his SLR. i was tempted to kick it while riding past on my bike. there was another guy a bit further down with a big tripod. that bridge is only a few feet wide, barely enough for a bike rider to carefully make it past a ped. asshats.

Ugh. I also have issues with people who think the world revolves around their picture taking.
