Alright i have 4 computers networked in my house through a Linksys Switch and they all get DSL through a Cisco 768 modem/router. On the comp the DSL modem is attached to I opened the Quake 2 port "27910" and people cant connect to the game when i host it on my computer upstairs and when i run it on the main comp where the DSL modem is connected.

While they're on your local LAN, or trying to get through via the internet? Do you have a firewall setup?

Try installing ipx/spx protocols on the systems if they cannot connect through ip, once you did that, you should see the servers in multiplayer.

Also, if you're using a router make sure that the ports for the server are being forwarded. And I mean ALL the ports. There's usually a number of them. You might try forwarding the ports and DMZ'ing the IP of your server.
