People can be so jumpy

My laundry card ran out of money. So i went to the machine that recharges it behind the leasing office. I saw three high school-looking kids (two girls, one guy) in front of me and kept walking.

The guy looked back and saw me and we all kept walking. We almost get by the machine and a girl looks back. She gasps and says "oh my god! there's a man behind us!" The two ppl turn back and see me. At which point I say, "calm down i won't bite".

Sheesh.. I'm just going to the laundry card machine. So jumpy. Next time i'll probably get maced.

It happened just now (~2:15 AM PST)

I understand why the girl would get freaked out. But seriously.... who walks at night and doesn't pay attention to their surroundings? She should have noticed me LONG before she did. The guy did. I figured he told his friends there was someone behind them. *I* would certianly do that.

Sigh.. stupid kids.

it would be different if you were walking behind a lone woman at night. sometimes when that happens on campus i feel sorry for the woman and try to create distance.

well, it might seem a little unusual since it was this time and they might have thought you were "following" them. they shouldnt be scared, since there was only one of you and a couple of them...unless you looked scary.
