People actually use housesitting services?

I see sites which hookup house/pet sitters and those seeking their services--
my question is, does anybody actually engage the services of a house sitter?
Sounds like nice work (free rent) if you can get it....

sometimes they do and yeah it's a sweet job. Personally I'd rather just set the alarm and get friends to check on cats every couple of days.
