Penumbra: Requiem

Penumbra: Requiem is out today by digital download only. For those that havent played the Penumbra games this is the final installment in the series and requires Penumbra:Black Plague to play since its just an expansion. Penumbra games are pretty cool and both the first game(Penumbra: Overture) and second (Penumbra: Black Plague) have demos if you want to give them a try.

I bought Black Plague and played if for about 30 minutes. I really couldn't get into it.

why would you buy the second game in a series if you havent played the first? also it does take a while to get into it. there are a couple parts that I never would have figured out without looking on youtube. lol

Seriously? I guess I never should have played Ultima 6 and 7 because I didn't play 1-5? I guess I can't get GTA 4 because I didn't play 1 or 2.

What kind of stupid logic is that?

I read the reviews and thought I may like it and it was $10 at Best Buy, so why not.

well Penumbra was designed as a trilogy. I wouldnt want to play the middle game in a trilogy first is all I am saying...

Wow - nice refreshing change in "adventure" games - great atmosphere, puzzles that actually make sense, etc. Bought all 3 from gamersgate [combo deal on the first 2].

So just finished all 3 -

Overture [~6 hours] - sort of a prequel to Black Plague. You don't necessarily need to play this one but it helps if you want to understand the storyline of the other 2. A few areas of dangerous encounters [boxes will be your friend] - but mostly an engrossing point/click style adventure.

Black Plague [~6-8 hours] - More dangerous encounters with a very weird ending [reminded me of half-life 1's alien worlds].

Requiem - Think Portal style game play [~3-4 hours] - no danger of being attacked. The end links you back to Overture.
