Pentium-M vs. Pentium III-M

I've read just about all there is to read on Centrino technology, but what I need now is a simple comparison between the Pentium-M and the Pentium III-M. I am trying to decide between two tablets, the Toshiba Portege 3505 (1.33GHz P-IIIM) and the soon-to-be-released Sharp Actius TN10W (1.1GHz P-M LV). After upgrading memory and getting a DVD drive, the sharp will end up costing about 200 or 300 more than the comparably equipped Toshiba. Essentially, the only difference will be the processor. How much of a performance hit will I be taking if I go with the PIII? I know battery life will be about 2 hours less.

Thanks so much for any help you all can offer!

A pentium-m 1.6ghz performs similiar to a 2.2ghz p4-M, so it should be faster than a P3-m. Go look at the articles at THG which has some Centrino pentium-m benchmarks.

I've looked but, to tell you the truth, I'm having trouble drawing a direct comparison. I'm usually good at this, which is part of why I'm so frustrated. I guess I just want someone to say "Go for the P-III it won't be too much slower" or "Wait it out and fork over the extra dough, this thing will rock!" :)

By the way, thanks for the quick response!

There's a great article right here on the Banias link and I would definitely pay more for it and wait for the model you want that has it.

Right on - I read that link which is why I've been leaning more toward waiting (waiting sucks :p) Thanks for the response. I guess I'll just have to be patient - always hard to do!
