I bought a cheap laptop for my wife and it has this processor. It says dual core, but I can't seem to find much information about it.

Any help?

The T2060 is a Pentium Dual-Core, not a Pentium M. And yes, it has 2 cores. There's a little information on Wikipedia, but in general very little is known about these processors.

The "Pentium Dual Core" CPUs are Core Duos (Yonah) that has had 1MB of L2 cache disabled.

Thanks for your respones. Good info. You'd think you could find this easily?

Intel has been unusually quiet about these products. When the T2060 first started showing up in products, it completely surprised many people (myself included), because there had been virtually nothing said about it in advance.

Yes dual-core. Yes, slower. Yes, Intel is quietly introducing this into the low-end dual-core market.

I suspect these are chips that failed to make the grade and were binned accordingly. Still very snappy chips for general laptop usage.

Even with 512MB, Vista Home Basic runs pretty snappy on this laptop. I am going to up the RAM to 1 GB soon.

Thanks,

Upgraded the laptop to 2 GB of RAM and Vista is smooth on it. Not a bad processor for the price. The only limiting factor now it seems is the 5400 RPM hard drive. :(

and 7200rpm 2.5" hdd's are kinda expensive, but if you want the fastest laptop you can get out of that chassis...

My toshiba laptop has a T2050 1.6GHz dual core... runs great as far as I'm concerned, it can do photoshop respectably, which is the most CPU intensive thing I do.

I'm still on windows XP and probably not going to change the OS to anything anytime soon

In the future just run CPU-z ;)

When I first posted this thread, CPU-Z did not identify the CPU properly.

I got the model, stepping, etc. but there were no online resources listing
this model. It was almost back then like someone made up this dual core
CPU since it was not anywhere in the literature.
