Hey all,

I'm in the market for a laptop, and would really like to pick up a Centrino-based unit for it's portability, and long battery life.
My main applications are Internet surfing, and watching DVDs, but would also be using it for audio production and video editing.

In this case, would a Pentium M processor suffice? Or do I have to go with a P4 M?
I haven't been able to find much discussion about it, other than on some audio forums (where music producers seem to love Centrino laptops). But I'm not sure about video performance.

Any input is appreciated.

the P-M processor is by far the best choice on laptops for performance, battery life, and networking as the whole combo is called centrino. a p4 would be better a video encoding but itd need to be like 3.2ghz with 800fsb, so centrino is the way to go if you can get around 1.6-2.0 ghz processor.

My P-M 1.7 ocs to 2.125 quite nicely; I'm not sure about its effect on multimedia applications.

What do you mean by multimedia applications?

Such as video and audio editing apps, like I mentioned. :)
