how much of an overclock can i expect to have with 333mhz samsung ram(1gb or 2gb?) and whats the best way to do it?(i dont have much exps in oc)

You are going to have to run asynch. Honestally however, if this is your first overclocking venture I highly HIGHLY discourage you from going Dothan. There is a long list of reasons I can give.

Simply put, Dothan isnt for amatures :( (dont take it the wrong way). If you are looking for something that overclocks very well and is much more forgiving, I would look at a cheaper Athlon64.

Running a Dothan system takes alot of modification to really make it shine. Mods which I dont think you have the capacity of doing safely :(

Not sure what to expect, but I should be able to give you some idea in a few days. I just got a 1.6ghz Dothan, and have a p4p800-vm and the CT-479 on the way, along with an Antec Aria case, and a 6600GT.

Well I got the rest of the parts today..not having much luck right now..won't post with the CT-479 adaptor and pentium-m installed. I put in an old 1.6ghz northwood, and it booted up fine. I flashed the bios to the latest version(1016) which is required for the CT-479 to work. Figured ok, no big deal, that must have been the problem. Put the CT-479 and p-m back in after the successful bios flash..and no post again. So begins my total frustration. If there is anyone else using the P4P800-VM with the CT-479 adaptor I'd be glad to hear some advice..

edit: DOH! is running fine now that the screw that holds the cpu to the adaptor is turned the rest of the way..go figure, the adaptor and me both had a screw loose..lol

Well I know have my 1.6 running at 2.4ghz, 16 hours prime 95 stable so far, and I am pretty much limited by my memory, since my motherboard uses a 4:3 ratio for memory and only has 2.55v and 2.65v available for memory voltages, I can't go past 150mhz FSB(200mhz for memory) without my memory going unstable.

Have you tried a single stick with the loosest timing spossible?
*May* give a little headroom, although it won't be ver yuseful for everyday use :(
Nice OC though.

Nice OC though.

I am going to try setting the adaptor to 533mhz FSB, to see if I can get the ram to run at 1:1, and I'll go back to stock voltage to see if I can lower the temps a bit, since there isn't much airflow in the antec aria, but I certainly don't mind the 50% overclock I have already. Certainly makes for a nice portable gaming system to take to lan parties, and thats what I built it for..

EDIT: Went back to stock voltage, so far still 100% stable at 2.4ghz and temps went down by 10c in to the low 50s under load. Setting the FSB on the adaptor to 533mhz gave me the option of running the memory at 1:1 in the bios, so if I get some better cooling later I might see what this chip can really do..

David likes what ya did ! David and I use differant memory he way O/C. But I have really fast corsair bh5 (the old stuff) so I have limeted overhead . This is were how you O/C is up to you. David says the way he likes todo it is not the cheapest but best results for my pc or anyone else with a P4 That has limited headroom on there memory. Mine well run stable @ 224 2-2-2-5 pat enable. So if you can afford it buy the next dothan 2.23(?)
keep it at 1:1 and go to the highest stable O/C he states you won't break world record but you should beable to get 2.5 2.6 and thats good performance. The best O/C david has seen on your set up is 3.5 David states that that O/C can't be stable . There are alot of people reporting 2.9 Stable and still David is saying there not posting bennchies . Why ?David loves O/C but hates O/C with big MGz that show no stability proof.
