Pentium M 2Ghz Vs AMD 64 3200+

Hi,

Looking at swapping my desktop AMD 64 3200+ for a notebook using Pentium M 2ghz (Pentium M 760).

Anyone know what level of performance hit I will take.

Both 2Gigs of ram ect.

i don't think you're going to see any significant changes in performance...i may be wrong though

I agree it will be close.

My notebook has a 1.6Ghz Pentium M and it does just fine.

Actually for that speed PentiumM it is probably a little quicker (the P M that is). But other things like the hard drive speed will probably slow you down, unless you get a 7200rpm one.

Very close. However, odds are that hard drive and video card speed will make the largest difference.

I'm running a Pentium M at 1ghz (ultra low voltage is GO!), and it's fast enough to do everything I really need it for.

That said, I'm installing Linux as soon as I can figure out how to get my laptop to boot from my CD-ROM drive
