What DDR would I need to run a Pentium IV with a 533mhz FSB? I think I need PC 4200 but I want to make sure that's correct.
The MSI 848P Neo-LS will take either PC2100, PC2700, or PC3200. PC2100 will actually run at 266MHz, just like on an AMD system and not 533MHz. The difference is that the CPU runs at 4 x FSB and DDR RAM runs at 2 x FSB. Whereas with an AMD rig, the CPU and RAM run at the same speed (2 x FSB).Originally posted by: AMCRambler
I'm looking at the MSI 848P Neo-LS. Trying to keep it inexpensive but with some decent performance. Will that board work ok for me? So PC-2100, runs at 533mhz on the P4 chipsets. Live and learn! This is my first P4 system. Up until now I've been a die hard AMD fan.
