Pentium III naming?

could someone explain to me real quick exactly what the labeling on a pentium III means
ex:

if I see PIII, PIIIE, PIIIEB,
I want to make sure that I buy the correct one. I used to have a link to a website that explained this but I lost it and have forgotten exactly what the symbols stand for.

Basically here tis...

pentium 3 could mean anytime pentium 3 inluding the 512kb cache Katmai series (STAY AWAY!) these only come in the 550 and 600 flavors i think

pentium 3 "E" is any pentium 3 coppermine core (good) that runs 100mhz FSB (more overclockable)

pentium 3 "EB" is a pent3 cumine with 133fsb (more out of box fsb bandwidth but less o/cable)

katmai also came in 450 and 500 (i got the 500 right when everyone found out the 450 was really OCable 🙁)

I'm putting one of these in a Abit BE6, pretty old, BX chipset 100fsb. This will have no problem handling the coppermine and 256k cache I assume even though it is still on the BX chipset? So pretty much with my board I want a P3E?

How high does the katami version go? What is the fastest they made with that core?
What is the fastest they made with the 100fsb coppermine core, just wondering because on pricewatch on the faster versions it just says "Pentium3 933Mhz" for example and no symbols.

933 will not be 100fsb - multipliers are either integers or .5, for example, a 950 mhz chip would run 100x9.5 multiplier. 933 mhz therefore will be 133 fsb.

okay, good thinking, I haven't used a Pentium for a long time. I used to just changing the cpu multiplier like on my duron and not worrying about the fsb. Thanks guys

One more question when did they stop making the slot version or do they still.
