i want to build a server, i have in my possesion a intel 440gx dual slot 2 motherboard, and i was wondering (since intel p2 xeon 450 2mb cache are so cheap) what does this extra cache get you? interms of running my computer as a server, and will the extra cache speed up anything in windows 2000 pro?

need some imput. maybe how the pentium 2 450 compares to the pentium 2 xeon 450 2mb cache?

thanks

The cache won't do anything for you unless you need something with huge IO like massive databases.

so no applications will take advantage of the extra cache? and i won't see any difference in windows 2k? vs just getting two penium 2 xeon 400 with 512 cache?

For standard home use, gaming, light photoshopping and stuff like that, you won't see any performance increase.
