Pentium II 300 overclocking?

ndee

Lifer
Hi,
is it possible to overclock a Pentium II 300? What do you have to adjust that it works. It's a Asus P2L97 with the LX Chipset.

Thanx

My friend's got a P2 300. He overclocked the FSB to 100, and lowered the multiplier so its still at 300 though. Get more performance nonetheless. He's GD695372 on the forums I believe. BTW, he has a BX board I 'm pretty sure.

The Intel LX chipset has an FSB of 66MHz and the BX has an FSB of 100MHz. I think your friend has the LX chipset as he must have overclocked from 66MHz to 100MHz.

I had a 300MHz PII O/C to 350 on a 100MHz bus, maybe I was lucky but mine didn't have a multiplier lock on it! But yes you would need a board that supports 100MHz bus, the LX chipset doesn't!
