Pentium E2160 to E5200

First my system:
E2160@3.2ghz
good air cooler
Gigabyte P35 mobo(fsb goes to ~420)
8800GT@702/1728/1008)
4GB ddr2-1000 cl5 ram
playin usually@1680*1050 without aa

I've got the oppurtunity to upgrade from my oced pentium e2160@3.2ghz to a E5200 for 25$. Does it make sense? I heard/read that those e5200/5300 go to 4ghz and at least 3.6ghz almost everyone...
Would it give a noticeable(not substantial) perf boost`?

I would do it for $25. More overclocking headroom, should run cooler, and you also get double the cache.

i soubt you will see as much difference, but in games that extra cache will giva ya a boost.

It wouldn't be a bad upgrade. Of course an E7x00 or E8x000 would be even better. But an overclocked E5300 should give you a noticeable boost in gaming performance, since I assume that's what you're looking for.

I might do it. 2MB cache isn't enough for me though; I think I'm going to just wait until I can get an e8400 for cheaper.

yeah you're right even if the perf-boost wont be that great, lower power consumption and the fun with oc'ing a new cpu will be worth it

yeah thought that too but that wont happen anytime soon...at least not until AMD will be more competitive...i think Intel will just introduce the core i5 and the c2duos will be phased out without any or rather marginal(10$) price cuts...

Not this again... once again, maybe it will hit 4GHz, but not prime stable within safe volts.
