I've seen the Athlon 64 X2 3 GHz version for about $233, and the Pentium D 3 GHz for about $90.
I've been told that the Athlon is a lot more powerful. However, I'd like to see some benchmarks.
Most of the time I do video compression. I primarily use Nero to compress to Nero Digital Mpeg4 & h.264 video.
On my 2 GHz Sempron 3000, I get about 65 frames per second of processing for Nero Digital Mpeg4. I also get about the same on my Athlon XP 2800+. My VIA C7 based system gives about 20 frames per second for Nero Digital.
How many frames per second does a Pentium D process compared to an Athlon 64 X2. I am coming from NTSC DVD source material. Thanks!
