Can AMD's be compared to Intels via the Ghz?

Thanks,
Alex
😕

Don't buy any of them. None of those sellers are being honest about the specs of the processors in those computers. Intel doesn't make a 5.2Ghz cpu...

The second link has a huge picture of a core duo processor, but in the description it clearly states "Intel Pentium 4." LOL.

To answer your question, no. AMD and intel processors can't be compared by Ghz values because their architectures are so different.

Jeesus, definitely don't buy any of those. The specs on all of them are fubar. 5+Ghz Pentiums? 4.4Ghz 4200+? 1GB cache? I'd stay away from those auctions if I were you.

I've seen this kinda thing before...very misleading. They're playing off of the effect that the gigahertz war had on people. Basically what they're doing here is taking the clock speed and multiplying it by 2, since there are 2 cores. I suppose *could* say that if you have a 2.66GHz dual core processor that your computer has 5.33GHz of processing power, but like I said earlier it's very misleading and technically untrue. I would not advise buying anything from somebody who skews facts so much, and just gives flat out incorrect information (1GB cache), it shows a blatant lack of knowledge and lack of respect for potential buyers on the seller's part.

What is surprising is that this guy has 100% feedback. So there are plenty of morons buying from him than expected. I found these types of auctions run well outside the USA. If you check out eBay in India, you see this stuff all the time.

A Pentium D would only make 5.2GHz in an open case in Antarctica. Don't believe these auctions.

Under liquid nitrogen controlled environments, Intel has achieved those kind of speeds on single core processors.

If it can't be acheived in production systems, most people don't care...

MDG is advertising here in Canada with the Daul CPU combined speed like a 2.2 Ghz Intel Daul Core CPU they call it a 4.4 Ghz

O RLY

I've yet to see that commercial. Right now I've only seen their C2D commercials with Vista.

So wouldn't that be false advertising since dual core != Ghz increase?

If you buy two 250hp Toyotas, do they equal one 500 hp Ferrari?
