Pentium D 945

I just got a new desktop at work with the 3.4 GHz Pentium D 945... and it sucks.

This machine isn't any faster AT ALL then my Pentium 4 2.8 GHz machine.

Both machines have 1GB of ram, decent video card (256 MB ATi) and a 10k Raptor HD.

The new machine is just sluggish. Sure it boots fast but when I am working during the day I seem to wait a LOT on things that didn't take very long on the old machine.

Maybe I should swap it out for a C2D machine. Being in IT does have it's advantages.

According to task manager core two is being used. This is a clean install of XP Pro that I did myself just this morning. Ugh.

Seems odd. I still use a Pentium 930, though I do have 2GB of ram. What motherboard/chipset do you have?

And the 945 is also a .65nm chip, and it should OC a good bit.

No idea, I don't fool with that sort of thing with company machines. The machine is an HP DC7700C.

I have yet to run Vista on it, I am sure it will be faster but meh, for me Vista is worthless at the moment.
