Well as the title says, I'm wondering if it will be worth it for me to upgrade from a Pentium D 930 to a Core 2 Duo e6300? Or would I be much better off going for the e6600? I'm getting a e6300 and a DG965WH mobo in the mail tomorrow, and I'm just wondering if I should off the processor and get a e6600...

I'm not worried about overclocking because I plan on keeping that motherboard.

But I'm not going to keep the e6300 unless it's a noticeable increase in performance. I'm hoping the e6300 will be better though, because I don't really want to spend the extra cash right now on a e6600 either...

Thanks for the input...

The e6300 is the much better buy.Its a bit more expensive but u'll get better performance. And u'll save up on power consumption.
The difference in cost between the pentium d 930 and the E6300 will be around how much u'll save in a year on power bills.

thanks for the link, it looks like it will be worth keeping according to those benchmarks. considering they compared it to a 945 and it pretty much walked all over it...

well i alredady have the 930 so it's not what's about the better buy. it's about the performance and if i should upgrade to a e6600 to see better performance...

If you don't mind overclocking keep the E6300 they are overclocking beasts and should clock to about the same max OC as an E6600. But if you don't intend on overclocking the extra cost of $130-150 for the E6600 is well worth it to go from a 1.8ghz part to a 2.66ghz part

Yea, I don't plan on overclocking right now just because the board that is coming with the package is an intel board, and it wont really overclock. But I might get a new board in the future so maybe I will just keep the e6300 and get a new board in the near future...
