Pentium D 805

Just got a Pentium D 805 machine up and running using the stock HSF and the idle temps are about 65C degrees breaking 70C degrees under load.. Is this waaay too high? Should I check to see if the HSF is mounted correctly, and maybe replace the stock thermal paste with something else? I know these chips run hot (or so I've read) but this seems a little too hot. Ambient temp is about 23.3C degrees.
