I'd like to know whether the Pentium D 805's multiplier is locked downward- since if it is you'd have to get the CPU to 4 GHz just to get the 800MHz FSB.

It's fully locked, no multiplier changes on the 805. Runs pretty warm to, mine hits 57c on water cooling 3.7ghz.

Well, consequence of 90nm I guess. Probably wouldnt be a good idea for me, since I'd be running air. I was considering the 805 because I want to get a good 975X mobo to set me up for Conroe, but it's too expensive to get one of those mobos + a 920.

Well I think it will get to 3.6 or 3.7 with good air cooling too, so it's still pretty good deal. Too bad they don't make an X2 at that price.

Meh, it would be have to be an X2 1.6 GHz or so (Opt 165=1.8=$325), so it would probably come with an 8x multiplier........ which means just to get to 2.4 GHz you'd need 300 HTT. At least 805 comes with 20x multiplier....... which is a blessing and a curse, you dont need high FSB for high clockspeed, but you need extremely high clockspeed for average FSB (800).
