Very nice. 1.55v is more than I would go with a prescott based chip, but very nice. I can post at 4ghz but definatly not stable.

You need to run 2 instances of prime 95, because it's a dual core. You also need to set affinities so that each core runs its own instance of prime95.

If it can do that though, good overclok.

Yeah, he's got a good point there, need to run 2 instances of prime95 to test both cores for stability, and more than likely you'll break 50c on your load temps as well(which is still not bad)

How do I run two instances of Prime at once? When I try to open Prime a second time it just automatically closes.

EDIT: nvm

Go to the folder prime95.exe is in. Create 2 shortcuts to it on your desktop. Right click on one shortcut, click properties, and at the end of the target section put in -a0 then do the same for the second shortcut but with -a1.

Doh.... I made two seperate install folders but that works too :)

Thanks.

Curious as well, is it dual priming?
If so, that's a damned nice overclock.

Yup yup it's dual Priming!

It just got done dual Priming for 7 hours while running RTHDRIBL at the same time to stress the video card.

Temps were 50C for the video card and 44C for the CPU with radiator fans on low, 43C for the video card and 41C for the CPU with radiator fans on medium.

When I woke up this morning my room was cool since I leave my window open for the night (my computer's in my bedroom) and temps were 39C for the video card and 35C for the CPU.

All temps are on load.

Getting my mobo today and I hope to get a good result for my 805 rig too. Going to be using an XP 90 for cooling with a 92mm fan so it wont be as cool as a water rig but hopefully I'll be able to top 3.4Ghz.

Nice indeed. Did you try overclocking on air at all? Also, how much did it cost you to build that system?

I didn't try overclocking on air. The only aircoolers I have are what came stock with the 7900GT and the PD 805. I just went straight to my ol' watercooling system.

ASUS P5ND2-SLI: $72 REFURB at Newegg
Pentium D 805: $133 at Newegg (half the price of an AMD Opteron 165, and definitely NOT only half the performance)
G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2 667: $143 at Newegg

Total of $348 for the core components of a 3.6GHz+ system.

Add:
PNY 7900GT: $330 eBay :(

The cooling and the case have been with me a while, with reincarnations all the way back to my Athlon TBird days, but here's an estimated cost:

Swiftech Apogee (CPU): $50
Swiftech MCW20 (chipset): $30
Swiftech MCW50 (GPU): $30
Swiftech MCP650 (pump): $80
Heatercore from Auto Store (radiator): $20
BGA Ramsinks: $15
2x120mm fans: $15
1/2" ID Masterkleer tubing: $10

Total Cooling: $250? For a quiet cooling system that will last a long time. Right now the loudest things in my case are my hard drives...

While I commend the idea of running a gaming app to stress the video card and add case heat, I think you need to be isolating the cpu only at this point....Prime is a low priority test and the gaming app may be stealing cpu cycles ad cache better stressed by prime95 (which is looking for errors)...gaming apps may not error out if errors have even occurred....

Run dual prime test or just (1) SNM 1.51 test with 100% load and all test...When it hits the FPU test it will add 6+c to anything you think have seen to date....

Then only reason SNM is not as good (as an overall stress tester) is I dont think it is sensitive enough to error out....BUt it will stress your chip with the moest extreme heat....If you pass its high heat loads you have room...Room for rasing temps in a few weeks as the fans get a light coating of dust, and the daytime temperatures stat climbing.....

The nice thing would have been since most X2s will do 2.5ghz to 2.6ghz on air (some with default vcore) which is about equal to or still better then a 4ghz smithfield, to see what a water cooler could get a 165 opty...perhaps 3ghz to 3.1ghz??? That would take 4.6ghz smithfield to reach that....

Let me say one other thing...The cpu running one instance of prime95 at 39c after 5-10 minutes max would not have been the max temp....It likely would have climbed a few more degrees....

So basically running a second instnce of prime95 should have resulted in more then 3 more celsius increase...OH wait it weouln't have cause the 2nd instance of prime was probably not doing anything...

Give us a screenie of that one....
