Pentium Celeron 1.3 GHZ compared to pentium 3 or 4

How slow is Pentium Celeron 1.3 GHZ compared to Pentium 3 or 4 or other celeron? Can somebody recommend me a good motherboard for pentium celeron 1.3 ghz for around $100 or less? I am trying to upgrade my computer from celeron 366 to something faster. I don't have much money, that's why I decided to choose Celeron.

It's prolly just shy of a P3 1.3GHz, and it will kick a 1.3 P4's a$$. But, first off what power supply and what type of case are you using (ie AT or ATX?)?

The C1.3 is a Tualatin Celeron. Like a PIII, it has 256K L2 cache Vs 128K of the Coppermine Celerons. It has data prefetch logic, which the Coppermines didn't. The only thing that slows it down as compared to a PIII is the 100 MHz FSB. So, you can call it a PIII 1.3 G @ 100 MHz FSB. That should give you some idea of where the performance is.

<< wonder what's the chance of putting that bad boy @ 1733mhz >>

Not likely without water cooling. Usually from what I've heard, 1.5GHz isn't out of the Tualeron's league, but 1.7 is pushing it for sure.

Good discription oldfart. That pretty much is exactley the difference between the P3 and the Tualeron.

My TCelery 1.0A @ 1530MHz is surprisingly fast and extremelly robust. My AMD system is getting a bit jealous lately...

I am planning to build a new computer. My specs will be:

Pentium Celeron 1.3GHZ
Radeon 8500
Soundblaster Audigy MP3
Western Digital 40 Gig
ATX Case
256 MB Memory ( Still haven't decided which brand)

I still don't know which motherboard I need to choose. Can somebody recommend me one motherboard suitable for my specs for around $100 or less?
For the power supply, it will depends on the case. I don't want to buy a new power supply. It will just cost more money.
Thank you. I will really appreciate it.

WIth the 1.3GHz I would absolutely get the ST6 cause you will wan the 1/4 dividers under 133MHZ which the 1.3 cel-t most likely will not do. I figure if you hit 120fsb you will be sitting very pretty though. I know there are alot of people int he OC.com data base with the tusl2 but people I knwo personally and have spoken too at OC.com are disguste dby the tusl2. I have given links but am tired. Just stay away from the TUSL2 if you chip has a chance of not hitting 133fsb which like I said the cel-t has!

ST6, need I say more?

I dont think this person is planning on any overclocking (it wasn't mentioned). If this is the case, there is nothing wrong with a TUSL2.
