Help! I just broke the small clip holding on the retention part and now I need to remove the retention mechanism. I can only find instructions on how to install the retention unit, but not removal.

I've already purchased another and just need to get this out!

I pushed the small white pins through, but I don't know how to remove the black ones that the white ones were pushed through! Help me please!

Ok once you remove the 4 white pins I usualy try squeezing the black parts on the underside of the mobo while pulling from the other side.

It's a bit hard but take it slow & you'll be able to do it.

Are the black parts removable from the retention thing or should I push the whole retention module forward while pressing on the back?

Don't blame me if you stuff up but I've had luck with really tiny nose pliers before. (Did I spell it right)?!

Bump because I just can't seem to be able to get this thing off. I try squeezing the black pieces together and pulling it out but it's going nowhere.

Does anybody have any more advice?

I'm pulling the hell out of it and it's not budging. Maybe it's diff for diff mobos? This is an Epox 4G4A+ if that helps.

Even when I push the pins in, it's not loose at all.

No pull the pins out. You have a black bracket with 4 holes in it,those have 4 plastic pins that expand the plastic parts on the underside of the mobo.

When you remove the 4 white plastic pins the expanded plastic under the board can be gently sqeezed to fit out of the mobo holes pulling it out.

I removed the white pins, but the black holes they are pushed through are incredibly tight on the mobo. I tried pushing the black parts together and pulling it out, but it's really really tight.

can you not cut off the plastic pins that pass though the motherboard with a small pair of side cutters?

Thanks guys! I finally got it off :)

I took some wire cutters and cut away the plastic at the back and yanked it off.
