Hi!

I was just asking myself if the Pee4 is the same "good" performer as it is in RC5.
Any news about it?

The P4 is the fastest x86 based platform in Seti, in RC5 it stinks, though it may improve with modifications to the availible cores. I dunno, but all of the high end cpus (sparcs, alphas etc., with the exception of PPCs) are horrid at RC5, and the P4 seems to continue the trend, despite it not being a RISC based chip.

P4 is good at SETI?? I thought SETI is extremely latency dependent, and I also thought the P4 has 'a higher latency'. Thus hindering its performance.. I am in no means an expert.. So I could be wrong.. Someone please correct me if I am.. But wouldnt the P4 be slower clock-for-clock then a P3? Perhaps even a P4 1.4Ghz is slower then a P3 1.13Ghz.. ?

well, unlike Rc5, for which the code itself is very small and repetitive, SETI has large amounts of information to sift through, thus benifits from the massive memory bandwith Intel has blessed its P4 with.
