I just saw a Retail Pentium 4 3.0GHz 800FSB For Sale online $500.00 free shipping. Is this possible? Are these out yet? The 845PE is the only board that supports 800FSB?

I just thought they wouldn't be out till June.

I just called them up and they said that they have had the cpu for 2 weeks now and they just barely decided to put it up on the site. I didn't think they could start selling them yet. Isn't there a law that says everyone (retailers) has to start selling on the same date? I know that is the way it works for movies/videos, but that is a completely different industry. Retailers can get their licenses pulled and not be able to sell movies if they get caught. Sounds like an unfair advantage. I'd get it but I don't trust that it is a legit product. Anyone with photoshop could make one of those pics.

Law?

It's an agreement with the manufacturer.

Kind of like NDA's for tech sites - You break it, & you won't be getting anything next product cycle.

No that is not how it works, there is no "licence" to sell dvds/movies. They are asked not
to release them until a certain date and if they do release them early its doubtful anyone would say anything to the seller unless they did it repeatedly. If this happened (which it has never happened to my knowledge) they may cut that place out of the distribution chain at the very worst.

Somebody may be very happy to get one of these chips early, why the hell should you care?

Your must be new to think that this reseller would counterfit this CPU. It is a completely absurd statement and the only reason I knew this was up on the site is because I spend thousands of dollars a year with these people.

Remark uncalled for.

Wow! Sorry super knowledge man. I didn?t mean to hit your sensitive spot. I was just stating what my old supervisor would tell me. Next time I?m confused, I?ll send out a distress signal and hope that you rescue me with your superbrain.

Ummm. I don?t.

Your right. I should not have said that. My pessimistic attitude gets in the way sometimes. And it certainly didn?t help my attitude when the sales rep kept calling the chip an AMD. Also, I have never heard of them before. Nor have I seen them on Pricewatch, or Resellerratings. Granted, I have never specifically looked either, but they certainly are not at the top ten. You know what made me even more doubtful? I didn?t even have to go through a figgn? maze of number pushing to talk to someone. When it that easy to talk to someone you should always be apprehensive. ; )

Sorry if I offended you curely and essencompu.com. I mean that too.

No need to apologize. I'm type "A" personality and it gets me in trouble all the time.

I like them because I am so close geographically that 2 day shipping ends up overnight all the time.

It's not a law, it's an agreement the retailer signs with the suppliers saying they agree not to sell something until a certain date. That's why companies take preorders sometimes.
