You probably have Q-Fan enabled in your bios, those are normal temps if you have it enabled because the fan will slow down until it hits 52C then will speed up to cool better.

You should just disable this feature unless you dont mind higher temps or you cant stand the cpu fan noise.

My 1.6a overclocked to 2.4ghz runs between 35c to 48c. I don't know how hot the stock 2.4ghz goes though. Try doing a search, other probably have asked too.

edit: I use the retail Intel fan/heatsink.

After about an hour of operating, my P4 2.4B on my MSI-655 MAX motherboard showed 38 degrees C in the bios.
It is not overclocked or modified from default paramters at this time. Hope this helps, though I have read that there
seems to be a wide range on the where and how the temp sensor location affects this reading.

my 2.26 running at 2.72 hits 58 under full load (ex/ prime 95) and i would be worried if it wasn't for the fact it hit about 54 or 55 under full load when it was at stock temps. This is using a vantec aeroflow and as3.

I have a P4 2.4B with stock intel cooler. It runs @ 39c idle and 41c under load (the fan kicks in high speed tho)

The stock Intel fan automatically adjusts itself depending on the temp, you don't need to have the motherboard do it... I'd disable that Qfan thing.
