duvie:

i did what you said, moving the clock to about 3.7GHz and bumping up the vcore... and now its running prime95 and superPi a LOT better... it hasn't had errors yet... been running for about five minutes.... only 7 hours and 55 minutes left :)

update:

i upped the vcore and the ddrv a little bit and went back to 272 x 14 to try 3.8GHz again. and this time prime95 has been running a while w/o errors... i'll leave it on all night we'll see how that goes!!!

If 1.2875v is default then 1.4875 is a bit too much IMO...That would represent a near 20% OC in vcore....It isn't alwyas a matter of heat but overvolting can kill P4's.....

Does the baord undervolt?? I know what you have it set to but is the board actually delivering that much?? whst monitoring app are you using?Check it out....I hope you are undervolting and then I would not go any higher then the 1.4875v set and live with 3.7ghz if thats what stay stable...anything above 3.6ghz is still kick-ass...

i'm using ABIT uGuru EQ (stuff that comes with the mobo) to monitor the voltages. about 1.4875 being too much, i would almost agree. but i was getting less errors in more time in prime95 than with 1.4625... i see no errors/warnings coming from the uGuru app... it would seem that all is well :/ but maybe not? i'm pretty sure the board is not undervolting. i'll tone the vcore down a few steps (1.3xxx?somewhere around there).

well, i guess the board is undervolting... the ABIT EQ says that the VCore is at ~1.45 but I have it set to 1.5125V right now... what to do?

well, upping the volts when at 3.8 helps a lot in prime95...ran for an hour... but, in superpi i still get "NOT EXACT IN ROUND" errors and "COULDN'T FIND SQR05" errors... wonder if i should pump the vcore even more???

Sandras cpu burn is weak and not stressful enough for p4 chips with HT. Also games are not HT aware so they also do not stress the cpu enough. The key is to makesure it is solid under HT or under heavy cpu multtasking it could crash on you.

Doom 3 is multithreaded.

I have a set VCore limit when finding my maximum OC that I do not pass. With my current processor, the limit is 1.65V. While it is fun to see how far I can push, I usually back-down to default VCore, and run it as far as it will go there. I can run @ over 3.9GHz Prime95 stable @ 1.65V, but the added VCore is not worth it to me compared to the 3.8GHz+ that I can do @ default VCore.

I always start out by running Memtest86+ for at least 20 full loops to test memory stability, then run dual Prime95 for a minimum of 24 hours. After that, I hammer the system with long gaming and DVD encoding sessions until I am satisfied. ;)

When you say prescott, is it a 600 series or 500?

I dont even think there is a 620... but it sounds like your temps are way too low.

Are you sure your PCI/AGP lock is working? You say yours is at AGP/PCI: 75/38 MHz . That could flake some cards out, and might give you some errors.

6xx and 5xx series are BOTH Prescott.

My rule of stability is: use it on a normal basis, doing whatever you do, and if it shows no stability problems, then its perfect for you. In example, my computer is runing for a week now, since I overclocked with no reboots, so after 2 days I consider it perfectly stable.

BTW... its a GREAT overclock. Above 30% is great. Just be careful with overvolting your chip.
