I found my old P3 chip and i want to make a HTPC out of it, and i have a few questions.
1) the CPU is a slot 1 and i don't know what mobo to get for it (i want full overclocking options)
2) Im going to put my GF4 ti4200 w/ svideo into it, but i need some kind of a video adapter cable what do i get
3) How do i hook the audio up to the stereo and the TV at the same time

Muchos Gracias

And what OS do you think i should use XP or Gentoo

It will be cheaper to purchase a Value CPU and Motherboard that to find a working Slot 1 motherboard w/ good overclocking options (or even one at all for that matter) Slot 1 has been out of production for years you might be able to find some socket 370 boards w/ the features your looking for but unless you check ebay I highly doubt you'll find a decent slot 1 motherboard.

Agreed, Hot Deals often lists Outpost.com CPU plus Mobo combos for $40-60, and the Sempron is fast enough for software-based recording (used by all the under $100 TV cards, almost all tv-in on video cards) and high-resolution divx playback, while your slot 1 is probably way too slow for either. If it's under 500 MHz it might not even play back DVD MPEG2 reliably.

I have a Abit BH6 v1.1 mobo if you want it. It uses the Intel 440BX chipset. A very popular board. Nice oc'ing features too :)

Ahhhh....that motherboard was a hot biatch.........ditto with the asus p2b. I had a pentium-II 400 running on the asus p2b and when the pentium-III was launched, all my friends were cribbing because they had to upgrade their motherboards.......I just had to flash the BIOS and it detected the p-III
