I am upgrading PC to low level P3(600-700MHZ). What clock is better 100 or 133?
I will upgrade MB and memory also.

Agreed-Get the Faster buss CPU if your not overclocking like Supradude said. There is a large performace gain in having a faster buss speed.

Supradude
I am not planning overclock -I like stable system.
But that P3 CPU is the best for OC'ing?

Supradude is right on the mark. Overclocking, go for 100fsb, 133 if you're not.

For a stable system w/out overclocking I'd be tempted to go for at least a 700eb(133) or 733.

Ark, I have a machine running a CuMine 500E (100MHz) at 150 MHz, 5x150@750 MHz. This chip costs about $60 now. Been running since Jan 2000 with no problems with stock Intel CPU HSF on a Tyan Trinity 1854S.
Have another with a 733EB (133) and I can tell no difference between the two. The slower 100 MHz PIII CPUs are very easy to O/C with lots of headroom. Cheaper to get the older chip and tweak it.

I am still debating, if I should go with P3 100FSB and overclock.

So far my choice is P3-733 (133 FSB) (133x5.5)
Now looking for MB with i815E chipset. So far my choice Abit SA6R - any other ideas?

Asus CUSL2 and CUSL2-C (no onboard audio/video).

If your going to get a 100 mhz fsb version, I would highly recommend the 700. They usually can do 933 no probs, and higher most of the time. And you can get them for around 130ish 140ish. But if you don't feel comfortable overclocking, get the 733 like you want.

To clear the air.

The PIII 600e is the one you want for overclocking. The 600eb is clock locked, but does run at 133/FSB. It you run the 600e at 133/FSB it will bump up to 800Mhz, and run forever with the stock fan!

My rig:
PIII 600e @ 800Mhz (stock fan)
ASUS P3V4X
512Mb Mushkin enhanced SDRAM
IBM 20Gb HDD
300W Enlight P/S
Creative 12X DVD drive
HP 9310 CD burner
Creative Soundblaster Live (not value version)
Cambridge DTT 2500 sound system
Sony GD-400 19" monitor
Winfast GeForce DDR 32Mb graphics card

I modified the case to replace the 80mm fans with 90mm. One intake on the lower front, and one exhaust behind the graphics card.

This puppy smokes!
