Anyone have a link to moding a socket 370 to change its bus speed?

I have a 1100 MHz (11x100) p3 that I want to make into a quite (and less power consuming for 7/24 operation) MP3 server by underclocking the bus to 66 MHz and reducing the fan size.

Any tips or links would be appreciated!!!!

can't you do it in the bios ??
what motherboard do you have ?
there should atleast be jumpers on the board
search online for a manual for your motherboard and it should tellya how to do it
i dunno how much that cpu will overclock for you tho

good luck

The bios allows me to clock from 100 to 133 in steps, but I want to go down!

There is a way to make the MB think it is a 66MHz bus by shorting a couple of pins together on the cpu I think.

The bios supports 66 / 100 / 133 processors, but does not let you run on in the others range.

Help!

OTher option is to use software, but I do not know if softfsb supports this board?@!

My guide on pin mods

I wrote up a quickie guide on modding for a faster FSB, but going slower should work the same (plus is not permanent). Short the pins BSEL1 and BSEL0 together. You can do this with wire wrapping, conductive ink (rear window defogger repair kit) or by mapping the same pins to the socket and putting a "U" shaped wire into the two corresponding socket holes. Take a look at the graphics for the two highlighted pins.

If you use this information successfully, please let me know and I'll add the success story to my page.

if it is a p3 then you cant underclock the fsb below 100 , it will get angry. get like a celeron 667 or something with the 66 fsb and use that.
