"Knowing these realities, America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof -- the smoking gun -- that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud." -President Bush, Oct.8 2002

Ahh yes, brings back memories doesn't it? Well, it appears N.Korea is about to test one of their very own nukes, the most destructive WMD known to man. Bush allowed them to get to this point on his own watch. Anyone have an idea what would happen to the US economy if Japan disappeared off the face of the earth? I don't know personally, but it probably wouldn't be such a good thing. Japan is now a very real target if they really do have working nukes...we already know they have the delivery capability! This is not a good development. :(

I still think Kim Jong Il is just seeking attention. I don't think China is going to allow him to get away with too much.

If we have to tell you at this point we're just wasting our time.

We went to Iraq for WMD. No WMD was found in Iraq. N.Korea has NUKES. I understand how confusing this must be for you cw.

Ah, silly me... I forgot some people still think every situation and every nation on earth is the same and that nothing ever lies within a certain context. Don't ask me how I forgot that some people have the one-size-fits-all thinking of a five year-old... especially when I saw your username.

Get off it. Everyone told Bush NK was the real threat but Bush chose to ignore the real threat and run off on his mission to destroy Iraq's NON-EXISTENT WMD WHILE NK CONTINUED TO DEVELOP THEIR NUCLEAR PROGRAM UNMOLESTED THANKS TO GEORGE W. BUSH.

The big Texas "oil man".

Nice work, George. Now we're safe from Iraq's WMD.

And NK now has nukes.

Get off it. Every situation is different. Let me throw some terms: China. Nuclear. War. Million. Dead.

You connect the dots, genius.

And NK now has nukes mostly because your boy Clinton's strategy was to have Kim cross his heart and hope to die that he wouldn't continue development.

If that is true, then what has President Bush done to prevent North Korea from getting nuclear weapons?

Yes. Its a growing trend among five-year olds to use the handle impeachbush on P&N forums. I apologize my handle has hurt you so deeply. If this post came from Jesus himself, you still wouldn't listen.

PS CW

Kim didn't have any nukes while Clinton was president.

He does now.

It's been over four years. I know it's been a hard four years. But it's really time to take the Clinton training wheels off. Bush's responsibile now. I know that's a scary thought and you want Clinton back so badly that you coninue to harken to him even after all of these years. But Bush really does have to start taking responsibility by now, dont' you think?

Answer the second part of the OP. With everyone telling him NK was the real threat, why did Bush chase this chimera in Iraq and allow Kim to advance his nuclear progam almost totally unmolested?

If Bush was worried about WMD, why did he invade Iraq on faked evidence and ignore NK?

Combine all this with the now well known fact that Bush conspired to invade Iraq prior to any of this and, in a true democracy, you'd have the recipe for an impeachment.

I mean, how possibly can anyone defend Bush's actions?

Extremely unlikely. China is not about to get their collective tit stuck in the wringer by violating the NPT just to be friendly to NK. Far too much risk for far too little gain.

The US has stated that they are researching smaller tactical nukes for future battles... so it seems to me that the NPT is just toilet paper now.

IIRC, the NPT does not prohibit the domestic development of nuclear weapons in already nuclear states when the treaty was signed. Exporting technology, information, nuclear materials, or weapons to another state would be a gross violation.
