Penryn real-world benchmarks on July 15 ?

However, industry sources recently told TG Daily that a whole bunch of non disclosure agreements (NDAs) for the pre-release and distribution of 45 nm processors are already in place and carry a July 15 expiration date ... we received confirmation from our sources that initial sample shipments of Penryn are scheduled to begin late in Q2 and early Q3. We also expect the NDAs also to apply to the press, which means that first real-world Penryn benchmarks are likely to be published on July 15.

They aint gonna come out then, thats just the NDA. And whenever it is "launched" it will only be in paper since the volumes won't be high enough to satisfy demand, so they'll probably get overpriced.

Anyhow, arent their ES samples of neph running around? the only good thing i see in penrynn is a 15% increase and a die shrinkage. Thats nothing compared to the benefits they predict neph. would bring.

i dont think nephalem is due anytime soon... isnt it at least a year and a half more?

also what Intel needs to do right now is decide on socket compatibility and let us know which socket will support what and when

Last I heard neph was to be later in 08 and even into 09. But i'm not sure. With all the changes to the chip, it will take quite a long time to complete. Looks like it will take neph to meet or beat K10. The new neph should be quite a beast. IMO anyways.
