I noticed that the new P35 motherboards are just hitting the market and I was wondering if only P35 supports the new Penryn and 45nm chips or will P965 also support them? Also, will Penryn fully support DDR2 or will I need to buy a whole new setup to run one? Thanks for any help. I've tried looking for answers online but none of it is too clear.

The new VRM requirements of Penryn means that few current socket 775 boards are guaranteed to run it. Some boards may get BIOS updates to allow them to handle Penryn. All the new Penryn-capable chipsets except for the top-end X38 support both DDR2 and DDR3 so there will be boards that can take either, or even both, types of memory.
