Penn State students revolt against Napster, DRM invasion

Well, why not, since they're hiking tuition for everyone, but not everyone's going to use the service.

actually the cost of Napster is "built in" to the already inflated fee we pay to use labs/net/printers etc. $160 per semester! :Q

Anyway, a bunch of people in my english class were debating it, but it doesnt matter to me either way because I live off campus.

Good. I'd do the same if I was forced to have my tuition hiked to pay for DRM laden crap like that.

From the article, there is a phrase, "DRM-related songs". What does "DRM" mean?

Digital rights management. Bascially a leash on the songs.

so students who are living off campus are paying that 160 for nothing?! that is utter crap. its one thing if they are adding that 150 fee only to students living on campus, but i dont think they are doing that

It's awfully tenuous for a college to limit bandwidth on the grounds that the network is primarily for academic purposes, and then to enter into a deal like this.
