Penn State Freshman Missing After Frat Party
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) ?

Penn State University police are looking for an 18-year-old student who went missing after leaving a fraternity house over the weekend.

Police say freshman Joseph Dado was last seen leaving the Phi Gamma Delta house around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say family members and police have been searching the University Park campus for Dado.

They describe him as a 5-foot-9-inch, 160-pound white male, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Police are also attending Dado's classes to inform classmates and faculty members of the search.

A Penn State freshman is missing, and friends and family are joining campus police to find the student who was last seen leaving a fraternity, Penn State Police said.

Joseph Dado, 18, was last seen leaving Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity, 319 N. Burrowes Road, at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning and has not been seen or heard from since, police said.

Dado's parents have driven to Penn State from Pittsburgh to help find their son, said his sister, Natalie Dado (senior-industrial engineering).

"He has a close group of friends -- he has no reason to just run away and not contact anyone," his sister said, crying. "I just want everyone to help."

Dado said she last saw her brother at her Burrowes Corner apartment, 119 S. Burrowes St., at about 1:45 a.m. before he left for the fraternity. She said that his cell phone is on but there has

been no answer to repeated calls.

He was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt with a navy blue hoodie and jeans, she said.

He is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, she said.

Penn State Police Officer Ryan Rodgers said police have "no reason to believe he is in any type of danger."

Now, friends and family are phoning each other in an attempt to locate the missing student, police said.

Natalie Dado said she and her friends have been searching campus since as early as 3 p.m. Sunday to locate her brother.

"We are trying to make every attempt to try and locate him, wherever he may be," Rodgers said.

FIJI is a pretty lame frat (except for daylongs), I've been there a few times. It's also kind of weird he was leaving at 3 A.M. because most 'public' parties are pretty strict about having people gone at or near 2 A.M.

But there's signs all of campus and peoples' Facebooks and apparently that helicopter flying around is looking for him...

I'm really curious what happened to him and I hope he's ok

UPDATE: I was just napping, woke up to a few texts about the kid.. apparently they found him dead

* Update: Helicopter joins search for missing PSU student

Joseph Dado, 18, was last seen at 3 a.m. Sunday leaving Phi Gamma Delta, 319 N. Burrowes Road, walking toward East Halls. But Dado's roommate said he never returned to his Tener Hall dorm room, and he has not returned e-mails or cell phone calls since he was last seen.

Family and police searched the campus, and early this afternoon a search by air was conducted by a state police helicopter. University police issued an alert asking police in Centre County to be on the lookout for Dado.

This evening, police cordoned off several buildings on the west side of campus near the fraternity, which is where his body was reportedly found.

Sounds like a really fun party if it's going good enough people just vanish.

What, he's been missing a single day? Jeez he probably just went on a drunken adventure, give the kid some time to get back home.

Or he passed out somewhere and died from alcohol poisoning. Freshmen in college are known to have no clue on how much alcohol can kill a person.

Hope he's alright.

I am a Pitt student who goes to PSU frequently. R.I.P. My brother knew him

damn, that sucks.

Wow, that's terrible.

Anyone else think it's kind of...weird...that that site crossed out missing and said dead?

Yeah, I was looking at that too. It seems pretty...blunt about it. Not sure how else to describe it.

drunken stupor and stairs. Rarely a good mix. Wonder what the stairs were like, any kind of railings? Did he fall down the stairs or down the middle of a typical dorm-style staircase?
At our buildings, something like that would require a little assistance, or somebody doing something very stupid. The rails come up over the waist of normal-to-tall people.

makes sense to me.

he was missing. he is no longer missing, but rather, has been found... not alive. Sure, you can pretty it up and say he is deceased or no longer among the living or something equally pointless, or just get to the point.

From what I read, it is one of those utility stairwells, that go down underground. I know we have a lot of PSU attendees on here that could better describe it so I could be wrong. My guess is he was on his way walking home, had to take a piss...went to the stairwell, tripped down and hit his head.

What sort of stairwell was this? It sounds like a construction area. So he was walking home drunk, then decided to go to an unfinished house or building and walk up the stairs for fun? Then fell?

Not really any soft way to say it, really.

taken from the facebook group:

If you're familiar with campus, that area is a little-used corner of a parking lot that has several dumpsters and other such equipment. It would be hard to spot anyone there. There are several stairwells in that area and I don't know exactly where he was found, but at least one of them is a walk-up, meaning you have to look down into it to see anything.
